The specialized critics consider Mariano Ceballos as a remarkable violinist and
bright interpreter with a unique level of performance. He is fully dedicated to the investigation, interpretation, education and diffusion of contemporary
classical music.
His musical activities allowed him to participate in the most important artistic
centers, orchestras and music festivals of the world. Mariano was the only South
American musician to be part of the prestigious “Ensemble Intercontemporain” of
Paris, which was conducted and founded by the internationally recognized Mr.
Pierre Boulez. As a conducter, composer and pedagogue Pierre Boulez is considered
to be one of the brightest and most important figures in the field of avantgarde
music and aesthetics.
The Ensemble Intercontemporain, regarded as one of the most important and
respected figures in its specialty, is formed by Europe’s and United State’s most
respected soloists in the artistic world and it’s destined to the interpretation,
diffusion and recording of XX and XXI centuries music.
This distinguished and fruitful activity is seen as the highest step for a musician
to reach in said specialty. It is also an icon of the current cultural development
of the world.
Mariano Ceballos studied at the “International Menuhin Music Academy” of
Switzerland and “Carnegie Mellon University” of USA; his teachers were
Alberto Lysy (Switzerland), Cyrus Forough (USA) and José Bondar (Argentina).
Mariano went on tours through Switzerland, Spain, France and USA, he also played in several orchestras and groups such as: the “Wheeling Symphony Orchestra”, “Carnegie Mellon Contemporary Ensemble” (USA), “Camerata Lysy” and “Lucerne Festival Academy” (Switzerland).
Mariano won first Price in the contest “Mozarteum Competition”, “Shell Youth Biennial Contest” 2011/2012 and “Alberto Lysy Foundation” scholarship. “National Fund for the Arts” Award and scholarship by ““Fullbright Comision”, USA. He also received the “2010 Outstanding Young Award” to the Artistic Trajectory and the artistic acknowledgement of the “Argentinean Embassy in France”.
Mariano has performed in brilliant sessions with the most prestigious musical
ensembles of Europe: “InterContemporain” (France), Klangforum (Austria),
“MusikFabrik”, “Recherche” and “Ensemble Modern” (Germany).
Mariano is involved in many activities: he produces recordings, participates in
pedagogical programs, and he also diffuses his activity in contemporary music
through the different channels and media of the world: Kulturmagazin

Mariano is devoted to an intensive pedagogical activity with interpreters and
composers, developing the violin technique in the music of our times and teaching
in courses which take place in distinguished educational and cultural centers of
South America and Europe.
Since 2005 he has worked hand in hand with the “Ensemble Intercontemporain” and with soloist members of the Ensemble going on several tours and
performances in the main concert halls of Switzerland, France and Italy.
Yefim Bronfman, Sidney Harth, Daniel Barenboim, Melisa Mellinger, Jeffrey
Turner, and Garth Knox are some of the internationally recognized musicians with whom Mariano has worked and shared his musical activities. He has also worked
with world known conductors like Pierre Boulez, Peter Eötvös, Maris Janssons, Susanna Mälkki, and James Levine among others.
Mariano is also involved in several projects of chamber music, developing avantgarde
repertoires and performing in the most important festivals of Latin America and Europe; such as: “International Festival of Guanajuato” in México, “International Festival des Musiques d´Aujourd´hui” in Strasbourg, “International
Festival of Frutillar” in Chile, “International Festival of Contemporary Music,
Montevideo”, “Lucerne Festival” in Switzerland, “Oslo Contemporary Music
Festival” in Norway, and “International Festival of Classical and Contemporary
Music”, Lima (Peru).
The dedication and perseverance that this fruitful musical genre requires has led
him to develop activities of interpretation of contemporary music, including premieres in Latin America and Europe as well as first auditions of works by
Karlheinz Stockhausen, Luigi Nono, Luciano Berio, Krzysztof Penderecki, Toru
Takemitsu, György Kurtág, and Philippe Leroux among others. Mariano performs
in recitals and concerts that take place in artistic centers and in prestigious
festivals of Chile, Brasil, USA, France, and Germany.
The vast repertoire of Mariano includes soloist works with orchestra, piano and
electronics. Classical composers of the twentieth century such as:
Igor Stravinsky, Béla Bartók, Paul Hindemith, Anton Webern, Alban Berg, Olivier
Messiaen and Arnold Schoenberg. Contemporary composers of the XX and
XXI centuries, such as: György Ligeti, Pierre Boulez, Luigi Nono, Luciano
Berio, George Crumb, Karlheinz Stockhausen, György Kurtág, Helmut
Lachenmann, Pascal Dusapin, Toru Takemitsu, Salvatore Sciarrino, Giacinto
Scelsi, Georges Aperghis and Kaija Saariajo, among others.
